Rex Engle

Rex A. Engle has been in the hospitality profession for 32 years, with 28 of those years at the Oberlin Inn, where he is currently the General Manager.  He holds a business degree from Ashland University where he is an adjunct professor for the Ashland University Outreach Program through the Ohio Department of Corrections.

Rex’s passion for the community is evident in his current affiliations: Amherst Exempted Village Board of Education; President of The Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board of Education; President of the Visit Lorain County Board; and the Oberlin Business Partnership Board.  He was named Board Member of the Year by Downtown Ohio Inc. for creating two boards to meet the criteria for the Main Street Program and Oberlin Chamber of Commerce. He also holds a lifetime passion for Rotary, beginning as a youth exchange student to Brazil in high school and a member of a Group Study Exchange team to Sweden in 1990. He joined Rotary in 1991 serving the Oberlin Club in many leadership roles and has held several district positions prior to his current position as Rotary District 6600 District Governor serving 62 clubs in Northwest Ohio.

As a licensed Ohio auctioneer, Rex, a 1991 LLC graduate, has also been very involved assisting with fundraising for: the Arthritis Foundation, Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA), Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR), Rotary, Girl Scouts, Leadership Lorain County, Ohio Dance Theatre and Exchange Club.  He also is a Lorain County Dancing with the Stars champion, taking home the mirror ball trophy for his Argentine tango in 2011, at the Ohio Dance Theatre’s annual fundraiser.
