Kevin J. Flanigan
Kevin J. Flanigan has been the President and CEO of General Plug and Manufacturing Company in Grafton since 1979. General Plug and Manufacturing is an ISO9002 and OS9000 certified manufacturer of cold formed, CNC, and screw machine parts. A graduate of Oberlin High School, Kevin earned a BBS in accounting and management from the University of Notre Dame before beginning his extensive list of business interests that have made such a mark on the economy of Lorain County.
Under Kevin’s leadership, General Plug has expanded the business and facilities, added new product lines, manufacturing capabilities and technologies along with expanding their customer base. Kevin is also owner of Elyria Plating Corporation, Threaded Products Company in Richmond, Michigan, and Shamrock Development/Building Company. He is the President of G.L.W. Broadband Inc., and along with his wife, Gail, started FJL Enterprises, Inc., also known as The Unicorn Restaurant and Pub, located in Grafton. Kevin is a partner with Tyler Davison in “Low Spark Films” and was the co-executive producer of “Take Shelter”, filmed in Lorain County, with production headquarters in Grafton, and co-founder of Nanotech Innovations, located in Oberlin, which is on the forefront of carbon nanotube technology research in Northern Ohio.
Kevin has been a long and true believer in giving back and is known for his faith and confidence in Lorain County. He is a catalyst for creating strong, positive and dedicated leaders in our community and is always available to discuss the betterment of the county. He has shown his commitment to civic leadership by his past and present affiliations which include: Chairman of the Board, Team Lorain County and Comprehensive HealthCare of Ohio (the parent board of the University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center); Board of Trustees, EMH Foundation, Team Lorain County, Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, Lorain County Community College Foundation, Ohio Cable Television Association, Center for Leadership in Education, and the Community Foundation of Lorain County. Kevin also serves on the Advisory Board for FirstMerit Bank/Elyria Region, is a past Rotarian, was involved in the founding of Midview School’s Endowment Fund and has assisted the Heart of Ohio Council of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Chairman for the Distinguished Citizen Dinner in 2001, before becoming the recipient of the Award in 2002. His proudest accomplishments are being husband to Gail, and father to Megan, Ryan and Kaitlin – all Lorain County residents.
