LORAIN COUNTY Historical society
Lorain County Historical Society preserves and shares the stories of the people, places, and events that have shaped Lorain County. With a staff of six professionals and two architecturally and historically significant museum facilities, LCHS is a leader in using history to help make communities better for future generations.
ORGANIZATION SEEKING
Community minded professionals to serve on their talented Board of Trustees who are interested in sharing and preserving the history of our county. Although always seeking members of varied talents, the current needs are for professionals from the Finance, Legal, and Marketing fields. Previous Board experience and an interest in history are preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BOARD MEMBER
The duties of the LCHS Board members follow those put forward by the Ohio Attorney General:
- The Duty of Care
- The Duty of Loyalty
- The Duty of Compliance
- The Duty to Maintain Accounts
The LCHS Board members are required to:
- Be dues-paying members (minimum $25)
- Give an Annual Fund donation
- Support LCHS events to the best of their ability
MEETING DATES/TIMES/LOCATIONS
This Board meets at 6:30 PM on the third Thursday of the following months: January, March, April, May, June, August, September, and November.
*The May meeting is our Annual Membership Meeting

Mission: As a non-profit educational organization, the Lorain County Historical Society is committed to serve all persons and organizations interested in Lorain County’s past, present and future by collecting, preserving, interpreting and presenting the history of Lorain County.
